It is with great excitement that we can eventually confirm we will be reopening The Mill from Tuesday 1st September 2020. We are very much looking forward to welcoming you all back however there are of course new social distancing and infection control measures in place in order that we may keep everyone as safe as possible while using the facility.

Please see outline below for reopening procedures. These are subject to change, especially in the case of local lockdown.
Opening hours: Our opening hours have changed to the following in order to provide staff with cleaning time prior to opening:
Monday to Friday  8am to 9pm
Saturday & Sunday  8am to 5pm
Following public health guidance the activities below are now permitted:

Indoor and outdoor sports
Indoor and outdoor swimming pools
Indoor and outdoor gyms
Fitness and dance studios
The saunas will stay out of use for the time being as the risk of transmission is unclear.

We hope this guidance gives you freedom to feel confident to return to exercise in a safe and clean environment, where the health and safety of both staff and members comes first.

When using The Mill we ask that everyone should make every reasonable effort to comply with the social distancing guidelines set out by the government (2m, or 1m with risk mitigation where 2m is not viable).

Further mitigating actions include:
All equipment used will be washed down using appropriate cleaning materials immediately after or in between classes.
Classes will reduce in duration to 45 minutes in order to allow time between classes for airing and cleaning to take place.
Members will be asked not to face each other during workouts. Back-to-back or side-to-side working (rather than face-to-face) whenever possible during indoor classes.
There will be marked out areas on the floor for each member to stay within. These help us to ensure social distancing requirements while taking part in classes or gym activities such as free weight use. Equipment will be placed within these areas and will be cleaned after use. Please do not swap equipment from other social distancing boxes. Should you require other equipment please ask your instructor or see the receptionist.

We request that you wear freshly washed clothing when using the facility and that you wash your hands before entering the gyms or studio areas. You will see antibacterial hand sanitisers in all rooms and in the reception areas. Wipes will also be available in the gym. We ask that you use these whenever moving between rooms or equipment.

Classes will re-start from the week commencing 7th September 2020. The number of classes on offer each week will hopefully increase as we assess safety and demand. There will be a limit of 8 people per class for the time being. Booking is essential and 3 hours notice of cancellation required for all classes. We regret that in order to keep classes running a £6 non-attendance fee will apply should a booked place not be cancelled prior to the 3 hour timeframe.

Changing rooms are an increased area of risk of transmission. It is important that social distancing is maintained in changing rooms at all times. The showers will remain closed until deemed safe to be opened. The Home Meadow showers on the campsite are open for use should you be unable to go home to shower. These can be accessed via the fire escape exit near the free weights room. As a general rule however we request that after a workout you travel home to change/shower afterwards. For those using the swimming pools we suggest bringing a towel robe or dressing gown to wear afterwards. The toilet and sink in the bathrooms will be available for use as needed however we ask that they are only used where necessary and as quickly as possible. These areas will be cleaned regularly throughout the day. Maximum 2 in changing rooms at any one time.

Music : You will notice that the music level is slightly lower than in the past. Loud music encourages shouting and thus increases the potential for aerosol and droplet transmission. The music in the gyms and studio will therefore be at an appropriate level bearing this in mind. We ask that if wearing headphones with your own music you remember to remove them when speaking to others in order to gauge your voice level.

Equipment exchange: We aim to minimise contact with surfaces with members and staff within facilities or while participating in sport and physical activity.

All equipment for classes will be set up in advance. We ask that you do not alter any of the set up stations and wait for your instructor to designate a station/bike etc to you.

Primary control for minimising transmission through contact is through handwashing and sufficiently frequent washing of equipment and avoiding sharing of objects.

Please follow the floor arrows in order to adhere to social distancing wherever possible.

All payments for pay as you go fees should be paid by card wherever possible.

The water coolers will be available in the gyms however we ask that you sanitise your hands before using the cooler and request that you bring your own bottles to refill.

Air conditioning will run as needed. The room will be appropriately cooled / heated before a class. Thereafter windows or exit doors will provide fresh air into the building wherever possible. We request that you still exit via the reception door in order that we can keep track on who is in the building at any one time.

External changing room doors will be kept open in order to ensure as much air flow as possible throughout the building.

Managing capacity and overcrowding: Distancing will be managed via floor box markings in the gym and studio free weight zones. The gym equipment has been laid out in order to allow for appropriate distancing measures to be adhered to. Some equipment will be out of use.
Please note there will be a one hour maximum workout time in place.

Maximum number permitted in the free weights room at any one time is: 6

Maximum number permitted in the upstairs cardio suite at any one time: 10

Maximum number taking part in a class at any one time: 8 plus instructor.

Covid requirements: When taking part in spin classes we ask that every member brings a fresh towel to place across the handlebars whilst spinning. This will help limit droplet transmission from sweat particles.

When using gym equipment please continue to wipe down touch points with wipes provided and then dispose of the wipes in the bin.
Please do not bring personal items into the studio or gym. Wherever possible please leave any personal items such as bags and coats at home. Should you need to bring personal items into the building we ask that you keep them on you at all times and do not put them down on floors or in walkways. Lockers will not be in use.

When waiting for a class a maximum of 2 may wait in the seating area outside the studio. We ask that all others wait downstairs until the instructor comes to invite you up to the studio. There will be no cross over of those entering and leaving due to the gap between classes.
When queuing to swipe in please keep 2 metres apart and stand back from the desk in order to avoid being too close to staff at any time.
Seating is no longer provided in the reception area. This area may be used to wait to be called to your class. We appreciate it will be exciting to see everyone again however we must ask that you all apply social distancing measures when waiting.

We are hoping to get the online booking system up and running as soon as everyone has successfully downloaded the Clubwise app. In the meantime booking at the desk or over the phone is the only way to pre-book your classes.

Please follow all signage with regard to Covid when in the buildings. This will help us to ensure a one-way system is used wherever possible.

Car Parking : Please use the car park on the main drive when using the gym. The old car park area by the shop is currently closed for parking due to outdoor seating requirements.

Track & Trace: Track and Trace is conducted when you swipe in at the gym. This is our usual way of documenting who has been in the facility and is adequate for the purposes of track and trace records should we need to refer to it.

Indoor pool swimming: One parent spectator may accompany one child into the pool area. When booking a swim session for a child the spectator is not permitted into the water unless a swim session has also been booked for the adult. The indoor pool is limited to 20 swimmers and 10 spectators. The outdoor pool is limited to 30 in total. Swim tickets may be booked at the gym reception desk. May we please remind you that parents are responsible for their children at all times and must ensure social distancing guidelines are followed.
Drinks: No hot drinks will be served. Only cold drinks are available to be purchased over the bar in disposable cups.

What if you have COVID symptoms?
If you have symptoms of COVID-19-a high temperature, new and persistent cough or anosmia, however mild, you should self-isolate for at least 10 days from when your symptoms started OR if you are not experiencing symptoms but have tested positive for COVID-19 you should self-isolate for at least 10 days starting from the day the test was taken.

If you have tested positive whilst not experiencing symptoms but develop symptoms during the isolation period, you should restart the 10 day isolation period from the day you develop symptoms.

Your temperature will be asked to be taken by the reception staff prior to you entering the gym or studio class. You will only be permitted entry if your temperature is within the safe range.

In an emergency, for example, an accident, provision of first aid, fire or break-in, people do not have to stay appropriately distanced if it would be unsafe.

People involved in the provision of assistance to others should pay particular attention to sanitation measures immediately afterwards including washing hands. Face masks and gloves will be available from the reception desk in case of emergency.

Face coverings: We do not ask you to wear face coverings when exercising however you are welcome to wear one should you wish to do so. All forms of face coverings may restrict breathing efficiency. It is therefore essential that regular hand washing and social distancing measures be followed at all times.
Please use hand sanitiser before using equipment.
only handle the straps, ties or clips
do not pass equipment to someone else to use
if single-use, dispose of it carefully in a residual waste bin and do not recycle
if reusable, wipe it down with wipes provided in the gyms or if in the studio leave in your floor box for staff to clean.
wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for 20 seconds or use hand sanitiser once removed

We hope you are happy with the measures in place to keep everyone safe during these times. All memberships will resume from 1st September unless we are notified by telephone on 01278238170 of any wish to cancel. Please note your 28 day notice period will still however apply and any outstanding payments will be handled in line with this. You are of course welcome to use the gym during any notice period.
We appreciate we have waited a little longer than other gyms to reopen and do hope this has not been too frustrating for you. We wanted to ensure that we can open with and maintain a very high standard of cleanliness in order for everyone to be able to return and enjoy the facility safely.

Should you be concerned about anything while using the facility, please mention your worry to a member of staff at the reception desk who will be happy to help. Alternatively please ring 01278238170 to speak to a member of staff during opening hours. Any procedural queries will be referred to The Management immediately for consideration and remedied where appropriate. We welcome all feedback about anything you feel you need in order to remain safe during these times.

We look forward to seeing you again from 1st September 2020.

Best wishes
